£13.00

Nandina domestica 'Flirt' is a compact, evergreen shrub prized for its year-round color and low, mounding growth habit. A newer variety of heavenly bamboo, it offers superior red foliage in summer compared to older relatives like 'Fire Power'.

Appearance

  • Foliage: The new leaves of the Nandina domestica 'Flirt' emerge in a deep wine-red colour in spring, intensifying to a brighter red in summer. The mature foliage is purple-green or deep green and provides excellent contrast.
  • Flowers and berries: In late spring to early summer, small clusters of white, star-shaped flowers with yellow anthers appear. These are followed by red berries, though the plant rarely flowers or fruits.

Size and growth

  • Dimensions: This is a dwarf variety, reaching a modest height of 1 to 2 feet and a similar spread of 1 to 2.5 feet.
  • Growth habit: 'Flirt' has a low, spreading, and bushy growth habit.
  • Growth rate: It is an extremely slow-growing shrub and requires almost zero pruning.
