£10.00
Dierama pulcherrimum, commonly known as angel's fishing rod or wandflower, is an elegant, arching evergreen perennial known for its graceful, nodding, bell-shaped flowers that dangle from slender, wiry stems. It is native to the southeastern Cape Provinces of South Africa and belongs to the iris family (Iridaceae).
- Foliage: The plant forms a clump of long, narrow, grass-like evergreen leaves.
- Flowers: The bell-shaped flowers are typically found in shades of pink, from pale rose to bright magenta, and also in dusky purple or white, depending on the cultivar (e.g., 'Blackbird' or 'var. album'). The flowers hang gracefully and move in the slightest breeze.
- Stems: Tall, arching stems, which can reach up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in height, give the plant its characteristic "fishing rod" appearance.
- Growth Habit: It is a clump-forming, deep-rooted perennial that grows from a bulb-like corm. It can take 2-3 years to establish and flower freely after planting.
