Pellaea rotundifolia, commonly known as the button fern or New Zealand cliff brake, is a popular, compact evergreen fern native to New Zealand, Australia, and Norfolk Island. It is widely cultivated as a houseplant due to its tolerance for a drier indoor atmosphere compared to most ferns.

• Foliage: The fern features arching, dark reddish-brown stems lined with pairs of small, glossy, deep green, round "button-like" leaflets (pinnae), which gives the plant its common name.
• Habit: It has a low-growing, cascading habit, making it ideal for hanging baskets, terrariums, or as ground cover in suitable outdoor climates.
• Size: It typically reaches an ultimate height and spread of 30–50 cm (12–20 in).
