Dryopteris erythrosora 'Prolifica', commonly known as the Prolific Copper Shield Fern or Lacy Autumn Fern, is a popular, hardy evergreen fern cultivar valued for its distinctive coppery-red new fronds that mature to dark green. This specific variety is noted for its ability to self-propagate and its tolerance for drier conditions compared to the species type. 

Key Characteristics

• Foliage Colour: New fronds emerge in striking shades of pink, pinkish-red, or bronze before transitioning through a bracken-brown color in spring and eventually maturing to a glossy, dark green.
• Foliage Type: It is an evergreen fern, providing year-round interest in the garden, particularly in milder climates.
• Habit: It forms a neat, bushy, clump-forming tuft of delicate, bipinnate (lacy) fronds, which are narrower than those of the standard Dryopteris erythrosora species.
