Coniogramme japonica Flavomaculata - 1ltr pot

£9.00

Coniogramme japonica 'Flavomaculata', commonly known as the Variegated Japanese Bamboo Fern, is an elegant, architectural fern prized for its distinctive variegated foliage and tropical appearance.

  • It features large, glossy, leathery fronds that resemble bamboo leaves. The cultivar 'Flavomaculata' (sometimes sold as 'Variegata') is distinguished by pale yellow or lime-green markings in a "herringbone" or horizontal banding pattern across the upper side of the fronds. It is a slow-spreading, clump-forming fern that expands via creeping rhizomes. Typically reaches a height of 0.5 to 1 meter (approx. 20–39 inches) and a spread of 0.5 to 1 meter over 2 to 5 years. Generally hardy to around -7.  While often evergreen, it may go dormant or lose leaves during severe winters, regrowing from the base in spring.  Prefers partial to full shade. Avoid direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the variegated leaves.  Best grown in humus-rich, moist, but well-drained soil. It performs well in woodland-style borders.
