Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Irene Paterson' is a slow-growing, evergreen shrub prized for its variegated foliage that changes colour throughout the seasons. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. New foliage emerges a crisp, bright white. As it matures, it turns dark green with heavy white speckling and mottling. In winter, the leaves often take on a delicate pink blush. The leaves are held on deep purplish-black stems, providing a sharp visual contrast. In late spring and early summer, it may produce small, bell-shaped flowers that are deep chocolate-purple and honey-scented, though they are often hidden by the foliage.RHS +6 it typically reaches an ultimate height and spread of 1–1.5 metres.
