Begonia Rex - colour green with red undersides - 1ltr pot
£5.00
Begonia rex, commonly known as the King Begonia or Painted-Leaf Begonia, is a popular evergreen perennial grown primarily for its striking, multi-coloured, and textured foliage. Native to the tropical forests of eastern Asia, these plants feature heart-shaped leaves detailed with swirls of silver, deep burgundy, neon pink, and rich greens. While they do produce small pink or white flowers, they are widely cultivated for their dramatic leaves.
Core Care Requirements
- Light: Provide bright, indirect sunlight year-round. Avoid direct sun, which easily scorches the delicate leaves.
- Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top 2 cm of soil dries out. Avoid getting water directly on the leaves to prevent powdery mildew.
- Humidity: Requires high humidity (around 50% to 60%) to thrive. Use a pebble tray or a humidifier instead of direct misting.
- Soil: Use a lightweight, highly aerated, and well-draining potting mix. Mix standard potting soil with perlite and fine orchid bark.
- Temperature: Maintain a warm indoor environment between 10°C and 15°C. Protect the plant from cold draughts.
This plants can be mixed with any of the 1ltr pot catorgories for up to 6 1ltr pots for one postage charge.
