Cyathea Cooperi - 7.5ltr pot
£40.00
Cyathea cooperi (syn. Sphaeropteris cooperi), commonly known as the Lacy Tree Fern or Australian Tree Fern, is a fast-growing, evergreen tree fern native to eastern Australia. Highly prized for its dramatic, tropical aesthetic, it features a slender trunk marked with coin-like scars from fallen fronds and an expansive crown of delicate, light-green fronds that can grow up to 4–6 metres in length. The apex of the trunk and the unfurling croziers (fiddleheads) are distinctively covered in long, silky, straw-coloured to light brown scales.
- Growth Rate: Remarkably fast-growing compared to other tree ferns like Dicksonia antarctica.
- Ultimate Size: Can reach heights of 4–5 metres in cultivation (and up to 12–15 metres in its optimal native habitat) with a spread of around 4 metres.
- Hardiness: Rated at UK Hardiness H3 (-5°C to 1°C). It can tolerate brief, light frosts down to about -3°C when mature, but prolonged freezing will severely damage or kill the growth point.
